On April 18, 2025, Hangzhou Asia Pacific Chemical Equipment Co., Ltd. and China Daily Chemical Research Institute jointly announced the establishment of the "Green Surfactant Engineering Technology Center" and settled on the 14th floor of the company's headquarters building. The center has invested 20 million yuan in research and development funds for the first three years, focusing on tackling the bio based sulfonation process and low foam concentrated laundry detergent formula. Both parties have formed a mixed team of 30 people, including 3 postdoctoral fellows and 2 foreign experts. The center will complete the design of the pilot plant within the year and is expected to build a continuous test line with a daily processing capacity of 5 tons in Linjiang High tech Zone, Hangzhou in the first quarter of 2026. The company's technical director revealed at the unveiling ceremony that if the technology is successfully industrialized, it will help downstream enterprises reduce steam consumption by 30% and wastewater discharge by 25%. Currently, it has attracted top brands such as Libai and Nais to negotiate and prioritize trial use. Industry evaluations believe that this move is expected to break the technological monopoly of European and American companies in the field of green surfactants.
